Summary:
In this 1943 photograph, featured in the Basic Bombardier newsletter of Basic Magnesium, Inc., Thelma Hartman reads a letter from her husband Frank, posed against the backdrop of the parking lot. Thelma worked in the BMI Post Office. Frank E. Hartman's letter conveyed thanks to plant workers for producing magnesium for incendiary bombs and the tracer bullets used to locate targets during nighttime bombing runs. A military instructor of bombardiers, Hartman had lived in the BMI townsite before being stationed at Greenville, South Carolina.
