Authorized biography of Henderson pioneer Selma F. Bartlett, written by Georgina Corbalan, 2010. Born in New York City to clothing store owner Amin A. Abdallah and milliner Louise Heath Abdallah, Bartlett was raised on her family's farm in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She came to Henderson, Nevada, in 1954 when her husband Troy was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base following World War II. Bartlett helped establish the first Nevada branch of 1st National Bank in Henderson and soon became the first woman bank manager in Nevada. Bartlett fostered the growth of Henderson and is widely known for her substantial deposits, successful loans, and customer service. Bartlett has been recognized by a number of civic, educational, and government organizations for her contributions to the community.
