520 3    |a Jennilee Thayer arrived with her family in the 1930s when her father, Fred Gibson, pursued a gold mining interest in Lake Shore Mining. Gibson was a key figure in the establishment of the Basic Magnesium plant in what is now Henderson, Nevada. She taught math at Las Vegas High School before marrying Robert “Red” Thayer in 1954 and moving to Henderson to raise her five children. Among other contributions, she served as a Nevada State President of P.E.O. Sisterhood, an organization that supports educational opportunities for women throughout the world.
