Notes
- Summary:
- Lou La Porta came to Henderson in 1946. He worked primarily as an insurance agent, but he also became deeply involved in the effort to incorporate the city and eventually served on the first and second city councils. He talks about the events and circumstances that led to incorporation and the involvement of determined residents, Pittman-area residents, the War Assets Administration, and the State of Nevada. He notes that the industrial plants, various social organizations, and St. Rose Hospital were also key to incorporation. This interview was conducted in celebration of Henderson's 50th year as an incorporated city.
