520 3    |a Spencer Stewart was born in 1976 in San Diego, California. He grew up in Las Vegas, but finished high school in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from BYU, he went to work at an independent finance agency in California before returning to Nevada to help create Nevada State College with the founding president, Richard Moore. Aside from the challenge and fun involved in a rare opportunity of opening a college, part of the attraction to commit to NSC was the chance of providing more higher education options for Southern Nevada students, and possibly expanding Las Vegas’ economy beyond the gaming and hospitality industry. Despite not having a clear structure, Stewart helped NSC develop into a college where people have a shared effort in helping students to succeed. Having helped establish Nevada State College from the ground up, Spencer Stewart has no plans to leave and is currently the Associate Vice President of College Relations. This interview focuses on Stewart’s recollection of his experience building Nevada State College.
