- On April 7, 1959, the City of Henderson sold 5,000 acres of land that had been acquired from the Bureau of Land Management. The first parcel comprised 20 acres and sold for $1,200. The sale took place at the Henderson Youth Center. The women here worked as the administrative staff for the land sale.
