|a Kathleen A. Franklin was born in Glendale, California. In 1953, her family moved to Henderson, where her father, Buss Smith, helped found a branch of Bank of Nevada. She attended Basic Elementary and Basic High School, where she performed as a member of the Desertaires marching team. Kathy describes life in early Henderson and shares entertaining stories about her work for the Telephone Company and Henderson Libraries.
