520 3    |a Kathleen A. Franklin was born in Glendale, California. In 1953, her family moved to Henderson, where her father, Buss Smith, helped found a branch of Bank of Nevada. She attended Basic Elementary and Basic High School, where she performed as a member of the Desertaires marching team. Kathy describes life in early Henderson and shares entertaining stories about her work for the Telephone Company and Henderson Libraries. Her husband Giles L. “Bud” Franklin, who displays a photo of Kathy during the interview, owned and operated several food and beverage establishments and served as a member of Henderson City Council.
