520 3    |a Joe Hill came to Henderson in 1952 with his family as a youth. After graduating from Basic High School, Hill served in the Air Force and later for the Henderson Fire Department for twenty-eight years. Hill earned his promotion to fire chief in 1995. Under his leadership, Henderson became one of the first departments in the nation to become accredited by the Commission of Fire Accreditation International and the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services. In 1997, Hill opened the Henderson Fire Training Center. Since his retirement in 2001, Hill has enjoyed volunteering at the Clark County Museum, fly fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
