Notes

Summary:
The theme of the 2014 Summer Reading Program Photography Contest is "The Elements". Participants may submit a digital photograph which best fits this theme and explain why. Entries will be accepted online between June 7, 2014 and August 30, 2014. In answer to the question "How does your entry fit the contest theme?" the photographer answered: When I think of the elements, I think of nature--wild, left to its own devices, forming its own structures. When I think of the elements, I think of fire, wind, water, and especially earth. What greater manifestation of earth is there, shaped by wind and water to form its own structure, than the Grand Canyon? It was absolutely breathtaking for me to see the Grand Canyon for the second time in this photo. The first time I was a child and got to explore the very earth's surface. This time, I was in the element of air, soaring above the mighty canyon in a plane bound for D.C. Thus, I am happy to submit this view and share my story in a photograph for the 2014 summer photo contest.
