520 3    |a Bettina Smith has bene a resident of Henderson since 1953. She came to the area to be close to her parents, who had lived in Southern Nevada since 1942. Her mother, Ruth Ball, worked for Lyle Burkholder, Superintendent of the Henderson School District. Following her mother’s example, Smith became active in the city life of Henderson, serving as a guiding light for her husband, politician Hal Smith, as he pursued a career in city government and the Nevada State Legislature. Smith serves as a board member of the Henderson Historical Society.
