Summary:
Valerie La Porta-Haynes was born and raised in Henderson, Nevada. She owns and manages Elayne La Porta Fine Arts, where she oversees her mother’s extensive and highly sought after collection of paintings and prints. Her father, Lou La Porta, has been actively involved in local politics since Henderson became a municipality in 1953. Prior to running the gallery, La Porta-Haynes worked for the Clark County Department of Aviation in the Finance Division in Contracts and Purchasing. During the interview, La Porta-Haynes discusses her youth in Henderson, her career in the Department of Aviation, and her mother’s art gallery on Water Street.
