Summary:
The Henderson Coordinating Council minutes of 1952 address plans for a parade depicting industrial and community development over the past ten years, funding for school band uniforms and Bob Miller's Olympic training, Community Chest allocations to the Council, funding for elementary school construction, playground supervision and insurance, recreational areas for youth activities, plans for a community recreation program and funding for a director, plans to reallocate Christmas party funds to help build an amphitheater for youth programs and plays, holiday party preparations, charity donations, sponsorship of a referendum on gambling and liquor licenses in the Townsite, annual charity donations, and organization of a blood bank. A resident of Henderson, Nevada, hall of fame swimming coach Bob Miller ultimately travelled to Melbourne for the 1956 Olympic Games as an alternate in the pentathlon competition after breaking his leg while practicing on a horse. His team earned the silver medal.
