Notes
- Summary:
- Loretta Roach tests electrolytic cells inside one of the electrolysis buildings at BMI. A prolific Polish American portrait and sculpture artist, Roach dedicated herself to the war effort after surviving the 1939 German bombing of Warsaw, when she lost everything to fire ignited by Luftwaffe magnesium incendiary bombs. She was described in The Big Job newsletter of BMI as "the only woman worker in the Metals units doing 'a man's job'...[working] over molten magnesium."
