- Summary:
- This scrapbook includes articles from 1941 and 1942 about the Nevada Democratic Senator, Berkeley L. Bunker. Most of the articles focus on his charges that Basic Magnesium, Inc. (BMI), a defense plant located in Henderson, Nevada that produced magnesium for World War II, was guilty of profiteering. He called for and received a federal investigation of the plant. The investigating committee backed up Berkeley's charges, which generated a subsequent proposal aimed to limit profits on war contracts to 2-10%. Source and date information accompany each article clipping. The creator(s) and assembly date of this scrapbook remain unknown.
