Summary:
Arthur Eichorn wanted to enlist in the U.S. Marines after learning of the Pearl Harbor attack, but he was too young. When he finally received his draft notice, he made it known that he wanted to train for the ski troops. Arthur was accepted and trained with the 10th Mountain Division (later to become the 10th Light Division). He suffered a sun stroke while training at Camp Swift in Texas and was left behind when his troops were sent to Italy. He was assigned other duties in the States until the War was over.
